Every year two of the leading technology and business magazines in Sweden AffärsVärlden and Ny Teknik (BusinessWorld and New Technology in English) co-publish a list of Sweden’s 33 hottest companies.

Over 100 companies were reviewed and interviewed by the editorial staff at AffärsVärlden and Ny Teknik. Requirements for the reviewed companies were:
- To develop a unique product or service
- Have a large international potential and be a game-changer for their business sector
- Based in Sweden
- Be younger than seven years old (started in 2002 or later)
- Privately owned
